High-quality pallet racks
are one of the most essential components of a warehouse. The choice of a pallet
rack is largely determined by the nature of the stock or inventory that will be
stored but nevertheless requires some thought and planning.
Aside from the kind and
quantity of goods, other factors that determine the kind of pallet racks you
should use are the floor area and ceiling height of the warehouse and the
investment you wish to make. The best
way to select the high quality pallet racks is to identify your
needs and choose accordingly. Some of the commonly available pallet rack solutions
are briefly described here:
·
Selective Racks: These are the most versatile and
multipurpose pallet racks available. They may be roll formed or structural in
type. Both of them give options for adjusting the size based on the size of
packages stored. They are sturdy, durable, and can hold a large variety of
capacities.
·
Drive-in Racks: This type of pallet rack is
perfect for storage that allows for driving in pallet jacks and other vehicles
easily. It is also the style of pallet rack that allows for maximizing the use
of both ground and vertical space. It is best suited for environments that
require load-handling devices and allow for standardized aisle spacing.
·
Push Back Racks: Push back racks allow for storage efficiency without compromising
selectivity. It enables rapid replenishment of empty pallets. Push back racks
are designed to handle prolonged and rough use. They are customized according
to the needs of the client.
·
Gravity Racks: Gravity racks or Carton flow racks
are best for busy warehouses that require frequent and continuous movement of
goods and stock. They usually come in prefabricated sets that are assembled on
site. The shelves are specially designed with shelf clips that also allow for
vertical height adjustment and sway bolts that provide stability.
·
Cantilever Racks: These feature several arms with an
extremely strong column and base in an L-shaped cross setup. They are perfect
for storing long and large inventory like lumber, rods, pipes and so forth.
They are designed to hold extreme weights, and each section can usually support
up to 50,000 pounds on each side, with two individual arms able to support up
to 5000 pounds each.
·
Wire Decking: These pallet racks feature shelves
made of wire, and are available as a box or structural and flush stock wire
decking. They aid airflow but are otherwise quite versatile. They support less
weight that other pallet racks but provide more support for the base.
